I just love the Barred Rock breed. They are so sweet and gentle, and quiet. If you live close to other people and need a quiet, easy going chicken for some fresh eggs, you should consider Barred Rocks.
They lay light brown eggs. They are on the small side, so they are easy to handle. They are black and white. I think they look checkered, so I named mine Checkers. I think they would be great for beginners and if anyone has kids that want to get a couple chickens, but your not sure. Give Barred Rocks a try. I don’t think you will be disappointed.
It’s nice to keep animals that give back to the family. We love our animals and take good care of them, so when they give us something back it’s like a little thank you. A good relationship is give and take and that’s what you feel like you develop with your animals.
