When summer is about halfway through my friends start asking me if my hens are still laying eggs. My answer is always yes. My hens lay eggs all year very steady. Then I ask them, why do you ask? They say theirs quit and it must be because it’s too hot, but the temperature is the same over here so it must be something else. Chickens need dark shade in the heat of the day and they need to be still and quiet. I have a cabana type house under the trees and they are always in there when it’s hot. Their nest box and food is in there too. They don’t have to walk far if they don’t want too. I just let them chill in the summer.
